1. What Target Circle Week Is (and Why October Is the Best One)
Target Circle Week is Target's members-only sale event. It runs 2-3 times per year. The October run matters most for Amazon FBA sellers because it drops 6-8 weeks before peak Q4 demand.
Target members get 15-40% off across most categories during Circle Week. Some deals stack on top of existing clearance prices. Pull any product up in Keepa and the sale price holds - Target runs real discounts.
For OA sellers, the play is straightforward: buy at a steep discount from Target, ship to FBA, and sell at full retail as Q4 prices rise. October puts the event in the right window for that trade.
2. The Three-Layer Discount Stack
The real edge in Target Circle Week OA is stacking three discount sources on every order. Most sellers use one.
- Circle Week sale price: 15-30% off most categories, up to 40% on specific items
- Discounted gift card from Raise.com: Target gift cards typically run 3-6% off face value during and around Circle Week
- Cashback portal: Rakuten and TopCashback both pay 1-4% back on Target purchases depending on the category
Stack all three on a $40 product and your effective cost lands around $27-29. Skip the stack and you're paying $30-34. Run that against FBA fees and you'll cut several products from your buy list.
The stacking method works across every retailer you source from. Read the cashback stacking guide for online arbitrage to see the full system.
3. The Categories Worth Your Time
Four categories produce the best returns for OA sellers during Circle Week.
- Toys and games: October is the best time to buy. Circle Week discounts of 25-35% on toys, purchased 6-8 weeks before peak holiday demand, is a simple buy-low-sell-high play.
- Health and beauty: High sell-through on Amazon, familiar brand names that move fast, and BSR patterns that are easy to read in Keepa.
- Household essentials: Lower per-unit margins but high volume and fast turns. Good for building buy box history on replenishable products.
- Electronics accessories: Cables, chargers, screen protectors. These often hit 30-40% off during Circle Week and flip at Amazon prices.
Skip grocery, perishables, and anything needing temperature control or special prep. The extra handling cost kills your margins.
4. Start With the Weekly Ad, Not Tactical Arbitrage
The wrong move is opening Tactical Arbitrage and scanning Target.com top to bottom. That approach is slow, noisy, and surfaces products not on Circle Week sale.
"We are gonna look at weekly ads. Do not start scanning the whole website on Tactical Arbitrage - it does not work. This is another resource. Target - this is not all I source Target personally. I'm gonna show you how to actually source Target." How to Source Products for Online Arbitrage at Target, YouTube, April 2023
Pull up Target's weekly ad in the app or on Target.com before you source anything. Circle Week deals are listed there by category. Start with the categories you know move on Amazon, find the specific discounted items, then check those against Amazon pricing.
You cut a four-hour blind scan down to 90 minutes of focused work. You know which products are on sale before you open a price comparison tool.
5. Keepa Before Every Single Buy
No product goes on your buy list without a Keepa check. A 30% Target discount doesn't matter if the Amazon sell price has been falling for 60 days.
Four things to verify for every Circle Week product:
- Amazon price stable or rising over the last 90 days
- BSR showing consistent dips (actual sales), not a flat line or steep climb
- At least 3 active FBA sellers (fewer means private label risk)
- No major Amazon price drop in the last 30 days
If Keepa shows the Amazon price dropped from $45 to $32 over the last 60 days, that deal lands underwater by the time your shipment checks in at FBA. Read the graph every time.
The full walkthrough on reading these charts is at the Keepa graphs tutorial. If you can't read a Keepa chart, you'll buy losing products. The data is all there - you need to know what you're looking at.
6. How to Calculate Your True Buy Price
Your buy price is the Circle Week sale price minus the gift card discount minus the cashback payout. Calculate it any other way and your ROI is off on every order.
"You are supposed to actually plug your store discount, your cash back, and your gift card. That is not how you are supposed to run the tool. My daily Target list is a list of promotions and we track every single website." Tactical Arbitrage Beginner's Guide, YouTube, June 2024
A $40 product at 25% Circle Week discount is $30. A 5% gift card discount brings that to $28.50. Three percent cashback puts your effective cost at $27.60.
At $8 FBA fees and a $42 Amazon sell price, your net is $6.40 per unit, about 23% ROI. Skip the stack and that same product runs 13% ROI. At 13% it doesn't clear the threshold. At 23%, it's a buy.

Target tracks order patterns on accounts. Place too many orders in a short window and Target flags your account or cancels the orders. Either way, you lose the entire haul before a single box ships.
The practical rule: keep it to 3 or fewer orders per account per day during a major sale event. If you have household members with their own Target accounts, spread orders across them. Do not place 15 orders on one account in two hours and expect all of them to clear.

8. What a Real Circle Week Haul Looks Like in Numbers
A single Target Circle Week sourcing session, broken down:
- Products sourced: 18 ASINs across toys, health, and household
- Average effective buy price (after full stack): $21.40
- Average Amazon sell price: $38.50
- Average FBA fees: $7.20
- Average net profit per unit: $9.90
- Average ROI: 46%
- Total units ordered: 127
- Expected gross profit from haul: ~$1,257
That's about four hours of sourcing work. The stack drives those numbers. Strip out the gift card and cashback layer and the average net per unit drops to about $6.50, with 4-5 of those 18 products falling below the minimum ROI threshold.
9. What to Skip During Circle Week
Circle Week puts products on sale. Most don't work for FBA. These are the signals to skip an item.
- Amazon is the only seller: You will not win the buy box. Skip it.
- BSR above 200,000: Units are not moving fast enough to justify FBA fees on slow-turning inventory.
- Amazon sell price under $15: FBA fees absorb your margin at that price point. At $12, no discount stacking covers those fees.
- New listings with no sales history: A flat BSR line in Keepa means zero data and zero confidence.
- Falling Amazon prices over 60 days: You are buying into a race to the bottom on margin.
Pass on the bad ones. Buying a loser during Circle Week ties up capital you could have put into something that moves.
10. How to Process 30+ Orders Without Making a Mess
Once your buy list is locked, batch the work. Don't place orders and vet new products at the same time. Switching between the two causes mistakes on quantities and ASINs.
The process that works: build the full buy list in one focused sourcing session, run every product through Keepa before marking it as a buy, then place all orders in one dedicated sitting. Email your prep center the SKU list and expected delivery dates before the first box arrives.
To build a clean buy list, the OA buy list guide walks through the exact process. Before your first Q4 shipment, revisit the FBA fees breakdown - Amazon adjusts fees seasonally and those changes affect your margin calculations on every order.
11. How Circle Week Fits Your Q4 Sourcing Calendar
Target Circle Week is one event inside a broader sourcing calendar. The October run sits in the right spot: early enough to get inventory checked in at FBA before November demand spikes, late enough that you're buying products people want for the holidays.
The full Q4 strategy, including timing targets for when to buy and when to ship, is at the Q4 sourcing guide for Amazon FBA. Circle Week is a sourcing spike that feeds into that larger plan.
The online arbitrage on Amazon guide covers how OA works as a business, including how to evaluate store-specific events and build daily sourcing habits.
