1. The Short Answer
SellerAmp and Tactical Arbitrage do different jobs. SellerAmp analyzes a product you're looking at: profit, ROI, eligibility, buy box and sales data in one panel. Tactical Arbitrage goes out and finds products for you by scanning retailer websites and matching them to Amazon listings.
One answers "should I buy this?" The other answers "what should I look at?" Most online arbitrage sellers who scale end up using a scanner like Tactical Arbitrage for volume and an analyzer like SellerAmp for the final check.
Disclosure up front: I built Arbitrage Stalker, a sourcing tool that tracks competitor storefronts, so I have skin in this market. I've also used both of these tools for years, and I'll tell you where each one earns its subscription.
2. What SellerAmp Does
SellerAmp SAS is a product analysis tool. According to SellerAmp's site, it runs as a Chrome extension, a web app and a mobile app, with these features among others:
- Profit and ROI calculator, including the maximum cost that still meets your criteria
- Eligibility checks, hazmat checks and a built-in IP and brand alert database
- Offer and stock counts, buy box analysis and variation analysis
- Sales and price charts, storefront search and an advanced product search
- Barcode scanning in the mobile app, with an offline mode for stores with bad signal
The core use is simple: you land on an Amazon listing or a retailer page, and SellerAmp tells you whether the numbers work. My full take is in the SellerAmp review.
3. What Tactical Arbitrage Does
Tactical Arbitrage is a lead-finding tool. Per its own site, it scans more than 1,400 retail sites and matches their products to Amazon listings, then shows you which ones look profitable.
- Online arbitrage: scan a retailer, a category or a sale page, with price adjustments for coupons, prep and shipping
- Reverse lookup: start from Amazon products and find stores that carry them
- Wholesale: upload a supplier manifest, a brand catalog or an ASIN list and get the Amazon numbers back
- Library search: book opportunities, new and used
It also charts historical buy box price and sales rank, and it supports 12 Amazon marketplaces. The site says live product searches need an active Amazon Professional seller account. More detail is in the Tactical Arbitrage review.
4. One Product Versus Thousands
The real difference is scale. SellerAmp handles one product at a time, fast. Tactical Arbitrage handles thousands at a time, slower, and hands you a list.
"So, the feature you want to go after, as I said, are the product search feature and the reverse search feature. Because like if you use Tactical Arbitrage, it's more than likely to actually scan websites, right? And this is the product search feature."
Which Tactical Arbitrage Package Should You Choose? | Tactical Arbitrage Pricing Plan
If you're sourcing by hand from sale pages, retail stores or storefronts, SellerAmp is the tool you'll use on every product. If you want to scan a whole retailer during a sale without clicking through each page, Tactical Arbitrage does that work for you while you do something else.
5. The Profit Math in Each
Both tools calculate fees and ROI from the Amazon price. The question is which Amazon price. A product priced high for one day can look like a winner when it isn't.
"And by default, it's the Amazon buy box price, okay, that gets pulled as the price for the item, that is going to get pulled for the profit calculation, right? And so I use the average price because that allows me to avoid products that are overpriced at the moment on Amazon, right?"
How I Use Tactical Arbitrage to Find Amazon Products
In Tactical Arbitrage, set the price basis to an average and add your cashback and coupon adjustments in the settings. In SellerAmp, set your cost, prep and inbound numbers in your profile so every scan uses the same rules. Either way, check the Keepa chart before you buy. The ROI calculation formula shows which costs belong in the math.
6. Eligibility, IP and Hazmat Checks
A profitable product you can't sell is worthless. SellerAmp puts eligibility, hazmat and IP alerts right on the analysis panel, so you see the problem before you see the profit.
Treat every Tactical Arbitrage result as a lead, not a buy. Run each one through your analyzer before you spend money: confirm the listing matches the retailer's product, confirm you can list it and check the brand's complaint history.
Product mismatches are the biggest time sink in any scanner. A retailer's 3-pack can match an Amazon single, or a different size. Open both pages and compare the images and pack count. If you skip this step, you'll find out from a return. Gated listings are covered in how to get ungated.
7. Where Tactical Arbitrage Wins
Tactical Arbitrage wins when you want volume from a known sale. A retailer drops 30% off sitewide, you scan the whole site and get a list of every product that matches an Amazon listing at a profit.
"Tactical Arbitrage is hands down the best sourcing software when it comes to online arbitrage. Now, even if it's the best, most people that actually try the software actually stop using it really, really fast because they have a hard time getting results."

Point it at a real promotion, not a random retailer. A scan of full-price products returns a pile of junk. The wholesale side also shines when a supplier hands you a spreadsheet of thousands of UPCs; you get the Amazon numbers back without checking each one by hand. The wholesale sourcing guide covers what to do with that list.
8. Where SellerAmp Wins
SellerAmp wins on speed for a single decision. In a store, on a sale page or inside a competitor's storefront, you want an answer in seconds.
"But if we get it at 28.50, and if we use this tool to calculate our profit, that is called SellerAmp, we are going to make $8.55 profit and it sells more than 1,000 times a month. That's how online arbitrage is. That's how it works."
How Does Amazon FBA Online Arbitrage Work?
The mobile app makes it the better pick for retail arbitrage, because you can scan a barcode in the aisle. The extension makes it the better pick for manual online sourcing and reverse sourcing, because it sits on every page you open. For storefront work, read reverse sourcing on Amazon.
Watch me run this system live every Thursday
Every Thursday at 8 PM EST I run a free 60-minute training where I source, analyze, and ship a real product. Reserve a seat and watch the whole thing.
Reserve My Free Seat →9. The Learning Curve
SellerAmp takes an afternoon to learn. Set your costs, open a listing and read the panel.
Tactical Arbitrage takes longer. You have to pick the right scan type, set filters for sales rank, ROI and price, choose a price basis and learn to sort through mismatches. New sellers often build huge scan chains before they've sold anything.
"Then from Tactical Expander, I'm going to run it to Tactical Arbitrage. It's going to return me a lot of leads, all that stuff. You don't need to do all that. You can do that once you've exhausted all the easy things that you can do to find products."
I Found The BIGGEST Mistake People Make With Online Arbitrage
Start with manual sourcing and an analyzer. Add a scanner once you know what a good lead looks like and you're running out of hours, not ideas.
10. Using Both in One Workflow
The two fit together like this in a normal sourcing week:
- Find a real sale or clearance event on a retailer site
- Scan it with Tactical Arbitrage, filtered by sales rank, ROI and average price
- Open each lead and confirm it with SellerAmp: match, eligibility, IP, hazmat
- Check the Keepa chart for price stability and seller count trend
- Buy the units your share of monthly sales supports
That loop turns a sale into a buy list in an hour or two. The full daily version is in the OA daily routine, and the buy list method is in building an OA buy list fast. If you want to watch it run on a live sale, join the free Thursday class.
11. Pricing, Trials and Picking One
I'm leaving plan prices out because both companies change them. SellerAmp's site says it sells every feature on every device at one price, with a free trial and cancel anytime. Tactical Arbitrage's site offers a 7-day free trial and yearly plans at a discount to monthly. Check both sites for current numbers before you sign up.
If you can only pay for one, start with SellerAmp. You'll use it on every product no matter how you source, and you can find leads by hand while you learn. Add Tactical Arbitrage when your sourcing hours become the bottleneck.
If your sourcing leans on competitor storefronts, compare both against a storefront tracker before you commit. The best OA software roundup lays out the wider field, and RevSeller vs SellerAmp covers the other analyzer people ask about.
