How Amazon FBA fees actually work
Most new sellers buy products that lose money because they forget Amazon takes its cut twice. There are two main fees on every FBA sale, and this calculator handles both.
1. Referral fee
Amazon's commission for selling on the platform. It's a percentage of the sale price, usually 15%, though some categories differ (electronics is 8%, jewelry is 20%). There's a $0.30 minimum per item.
2. FBA fulfillment fee
A flat fee per unit for picking, packing, and shipping your product, based on its size tier and weight. A small standard item runs around $3.00-$3.65; larger items cost more. This calculator estimates it from the size you pick, but you can type your exact fee from Seller Central.
What counts as a good deal?
For online and retail arbitrage, the rule of thumb is 30%+ ROI and at least a few dollars of net profit per unit after every fee. Anything under 15% ROI usually is not worth the cash tie-up and risk. This tool flags that for you automatically.
